How to Set Up Your Own Views
What is a view?
A view is, simply put, what you see on your screen. A view determines how data is displayed, how columns are arranged, and what you do or do not see on your screen. MKG initially shows a standard view on each screen, but depending on your rights, you can adjust these views to your own preferences. This way, you can easily ensure that the screen layout aligns with your working method, allowing you to work more efficiently. Additionally, views can conveniently be shared with your colleagues (other users in MKG).

How do I create my own views?
The button to set up views is the eye
at the top right of your screen. You will find this eye in various places in MKG: on the homepage, in the search results of Advanced Search, in action lists, in dashboards, in the navigation tree, and in the process modules (at the line level). You can personalize various MKG screen views. Especially in process modules, such as Sales Quotes and Purchase Orders, customized views contribute to a quick and consistent way of data entry. For example, add fields that are not visible in the standard view (you do this via the Field Chooser) or remove already visible fields that are not relevant to you.
Example: In the current standard view of the sales order line, the field Order Code is visible. Do you want to move this field forward? Select the column header with the mouse and drag it to change the order of the visible columns. Is the order code not relevant to you? Drag the column up or down until a black cross appears. Then release the selection with the mouse to remove the field from your view. Once you have made all the desired changes, click on the eye at the top right of the sales order line and choose 'Save view as…'. A pop-up will then open with the following options:
- Order
This determines the order in which your saved views are displayed. - Description
Here you fill in the name of your view. - Short description
If you fill in this field, your short description will be shown in the view bar instead of the description. You can enter an abbreviation here if your description is long. - Linked to
Here you select who can see the customized view (first checkbox in the list) and who can modify it ('Is administrator' checkbox at the end of the list). You can choose both specific users and entire authorization groups here. Everything you select here will remain saved when you collapse the list again. - Save search query
This saves the view in combination with an active search filter. You can only select this option if a search filter is also applicable in the current screen. - Show directly on menu bar
If you check this option, the description (or short description) will be shown as a button in the menu bar next to the eye. - Show only in this screen
This option ensures that your view is only saved for the module you are currently working in. We recommend always checking this box.
You can, of course, also adjust existing views. To do this, open the desired view, make your changes, and then click on 'Save view' under the eye. This will immediately adjust the current view without creating a new one.
All views you have created yourself or that have been assigned to you can be easily found by clicking on the eye. You can also easily manage them by clicking on 'View Management…' under the eye. Do you want to return to the standard view? Click on the eye and select 'Restore the standard view'.
