How to activate an investment
In MKG, we distinguish between main assets and sub-assets. Main assets include buildings, machines, inventory, and computers. Each main asset contains one or more sub-assets, also known as fixed asset lines. For example, different machines, such as a saw bench or milling machine, fall under the main asset 'Machines' as sub-assets.
To activate investments, you need purchase invoices. The information on these invoices is often required when registering fixed assets. The supplier, purchase date, and of course, the purchase amount are the most important details. This step-by-step guide explains how to activate a purchased machine.
Step 1: Find and select the main asset
Open the Fixed Assets module. On the module's homepage, find and select the main asset 'Machines and Accessories'.
Step 2: Create a fixed asset line
Click on the 'Sub-asset' tab on Fixed Asset Line
to create a sub-asset. Then double-click before the line to open it.
Step 3: Fill in the fixed asset line
- Enter a Description, such as the machine's name, and select the Creditor.
- Optionally, enter the machine's Serial Number.
- Enter the Purchase Date and specify the fiscal year and period in which the activation takes place.
- Enter the Purchase Value, which is the invoice amount excluding VAT.
- Enter the Residual Value.
In the 'Ledger' section, you will find the journal entry.
Step 4: Save the fixed asset line
Click Save
. The investment is activated.
