How to set up Shop Floor (2): Functional
The functional setup of the Shop Floor is always executed in the MKG Client. This applies to both the settings and the layout, as well as the screen views, as they must be displayed via the Smart Client. You can read more in this article.
Step 1: Create a User Account for the terminal
Open the Users module and create at least 1 "Shopfloor" User. In essence, you are creating a separate User for each terminal.
Users |
- Active = true
- Name. Advice: sf/sf1/sf2, sfc/sfc1/sfc2, shopfloor/shopfloor1/shopfloor2
- Administrator = false
General
- Password: enter a complex password
- Complex Password = true
Login
- Is Shop Floor Control = true
- Shop Floor Badge Sign In:
- false: employees log in on the screen
- true: employees log in with a badge
Please note! |
Step 2: Ensure sufficient licenses
For the number of Users that need access to the Shop Floor, a license is required. This entails the following:
- The Shop Floor terminal can be opened on an 'unlimited' number of workstations.
- An MKG User must be created for all employees.
- A MKG Shop Floor license must be obtained for every employee who wants access to the Shop Floor.
Step 3: Create a User for each employee
Every employee who needs to clock hours via the Shop Floor must be created as a User in MKG:
- Active = true
- Name: Advice: corresponding with employee
- Is Shop Floor Control = false
Users |
Step 4: Set up access to the Shop Floor
The employee must be linked to a User in MKG. Open the Employees module and ensure that on the 'General' tab the Login name field matches the User.
Employees |
Pictures added on the 'General' tab are displayed on the tiles of the Shop Floor terminal. Use a picture size of 256px x 256px. Larger formats can be uploaded, but they are decoded, which can delay the screen startup.
Employees |
The employee gains access to the Shop Floor and parts of the Shop Floor via the settings on the 'Time Registration Management' tab:
- Active on Shop Floor = true
- Report Ready immediately: optional
- Show Planning: optional
- Show Unmanned Operation: optional
- Show View Hours: optional
- Show Report Production Ready: optional
- Show Material Issue: optional
- Show Notifications: optional
Employees |
Is working time shift applicable? Then this must be set for the employee via the 'Working Time Shift' setting = true.
Please note! |
Step 5: Link employees to Operations and Resources
To allow your employees to choose from a limited number of operations or resources on the Shop Floor terminal, you can set a selection for each individual employee. This only sets a default: the employee can select other operations and resources if necessary or preferred.
- Operations: selection of default operations (time registration based on pre-calculated operations)
- Resources: selection of default resources (time registration based on planned operations)

Step 6: Set Day and Shift Schedules
In the Day Schedules module, you can set a login buffer, in which overtime is calculated if an employee clocks in earlier or clocks out later than the specified attendance time:
- Working Time Shift = true. This setting also must be active for the employee and in the administration settings.
- Correct Attendance Buffers = true. If you want a buffer of 'early from' and 'early until' settings that should not be clocked as overtime.
Day Schedule |
In the Shift Schedules module, you need to apply the day schedule to the shift schedule that is created for the employee. In the Calendar Shift Schedule module, you then assign the shift schedule to the employee. Make sure that you keep the start date the same as the day the employee begins and that these dates do not deviate from each other.
Step 7: Check the Administration Settings
Various settings are available for clocking in and out, depending on the preferences. Here you will find the setting 'Working Time Shift', which should be set to 'Automatically before Starting' if working time shift is applicable and is active on both the employee and the day schedule.
In the 'Stop' section, you can find various default actions for starting an operation and clocking out.
