How to set up the sales groups
The purpose of sales groups is to specify the type of revenue at the line level. On a sales order line, you can indicate what type of revenue it concerns. This includes splitting revenue into Machining, Construction, and Trade. When using items in MKG, it can also be indicated at the item level under which type of revenue an item typically falls. The settings of the sales group(s) can be found in the process table Sales Groups.
General ledger numbers are assigned per sales group. In a financial basic setup, it is only important to set up one general ledger account correctly: the 'Revenue'. In this field, the general ledger account number of the relevant sales group must be entered. All other account fields must be set to 'General Ledger Account MKG (9999)'. In an extensive financial setup, the general ledger accounts for cost price and coverage are also filled in. The fields Provisional cost price and Provisional ohw/vrd are only relevant if interim results are taken on invoiced terms.
It is also possible to split the invoiced revenue in the general ledger into 'Domestic Revenue', 'EU Revenue', 'EU Service Revenue', and 'NON-EU Revenue'.

Credit
When crediting, the general ledger account of the revenue account of the sales group on the original sales order line is used. In the administration settings, it is specified where all manual invoices should be booked by default. When a general ledger account is entered under 'Manual Invoicing', it is used as the default account on which all manual invoices are booked. If no general ledger account is entered, the general ledger account of the source invoice is used: the general ledger account of the sales group of the order line.
