Digital VAT return is now possible

Clicking the Submit VAT return button does not immediately send a return. First, a brief summary screen of the return appears. In this screen, there is an option to create a pro forma return. In this case, no return is sent to the government, but a line appears in the return screen. Here, the message can be technically analyzed. To actually send the return, you need to use the Submit VAT return button again, but without selecting 'Pro forma.'

Please note!
The Submit VAT Return button remains inactive if the selected period contains unprocessed financial transactions.

In the module VAT Netherlands, in addition to the 'Revenue and VAT data' tab, there is now also the 'VAT returns' tab available. In this tab, digitally submitted VAT returns can be viewed. The list shows the status of a return:

  • '0 Initial': when creating a return record within MKG and submitted to Digipoort.
  • '1 Submitted': if the current end status returned by Digipoort is 100, 105, 110, or 200.
  • '2 Accepted': if the current end status returned by Digipoort is 301.
  • '3 Delivered to Tax Authority': if the current end status returned by Digipoort is 400, 405, or 500.
  • '4 Pro forma': creating a return within MKG but not sending it to Digipoort.
  • '5 Rejected'
  • '6 Internal government service error': if the current end status returned by Digipoort is 410, 420, or 425.
  • '7 Error in return data': if the current end status returned by Digipoort is 510.
  • '8 Error in submission message': if the current end status returned by Digipoort is 210, 230, 311, 321, or if an error message is returned.
  • '9 Submission error': if for any reason there is no connection to Digipoort.
  • '10 Unknown error/status': receiving an unknown status code from Digipoort.

If a return shows status 0, 1, 2, or 3, you can check if a return has a new status by using the Check Submitted VAT Return Status button. If a return shows any of statuses 4 to 10, it is possible to resend the return. The reason for rejection or error is of course important. This can be deduced from the status returned by Digipoort. The Detail section shows the statuses reported by Digipoort. It also displays the content of the return.
