Manually creating production locations
A production location is an assignment of WIP products to a location during the production process. This indicates where you have placed the materials of a production order, including a status (Neutral, To be picked up, or Placed). Until now, you could create a production location while clocking hours on the operation, by specifying an operation via the Shop Floor or during the goods receipt of outsourcing.
This has now been extended with the ability to manually create a production location from the production order operation and from the planning operation. A service has been created for this that can be executed via the client or via the API.
Usage
The action Create Production Location can be executed from the production order:
- Open the Production Orders module, select a production order with a final assembly and at least one operation.
- On the 'Operations' tab, the service Create Production Location is available. In the dialog box, select the location and status and enter the quantity. Providing a description, ID, and memo is optional.
- The result is visible in the Production Locations module, or in the Shop Floor at the next operation.
You can also execute this action if you work with Planning.
- Open the Production Orders module, select a production order with a final assembly and at least one operation.
- Choose the Plan action in the production order, and go to the Planning module.
- Select the production order here and select an operation.
- The service Create Production Location is now available in the menu. In the dialog box, select the location and status and enter the quantity. Providing a description, ID, and memo is optional.
- The result is visible in the Detail of the operation on the 'Production Locations' tab or in the Production Locations module, or in the Shop Floor at the next operation.
API release
For production order lines and planning operations, the Create Production Location service has also been released for the MKG API. More information can be found in the Data Dictionary: tables 'prdr' and 'plnb'.
