How to apply grouping in a list?
In this article, we use the Sales dashboard as an example. Open this module and select the 'Orders' tab. Optionally, use a filter to limit the data. You can then group to display the data per customer, per order date, per delivery date, or based on another field in MKG. There are 2 ways to group, both with the same outcome: grouping via the grouping panel and grouping by column.
Grouping via the grouping panel
1 | Right-click on any column header and select the 'Show grouping panel' option in the dropdown menu. |
2 | The grouping panel will appear as a gray bar above the list. Choose the column you want to group by and drag its column header to the gray bar. If you want to group by customer, drag the Customer column header to the grouping panel. |
3 | The grouping is applied immediately, and the result list is grouped by customer. |
Grouping by column
1 | You can also group by directly selecting the column header you want to group by. |
2 | Right-click on the relevant column header, for example, Customer, and select the 'Group by this column' option in the dropdown menu. |
3 | The grouping is applied immediately, and the result list is grouped by customer. |
Multiple groupings
In both methods, it is also possible to apply multiple groupings in a list of search results by simply repeating the above steps. Once the search results list is grouped by customer, the list can be expanded per customer. The underlying orders are then displayed.
The way the grouped list is presented can still be adjusted. With the same setting, it is also possible to display a summary per group. For example, the number of orders or their total value can be shown per customer. How to add a summary to a list can be read in this article.
