How to Create and Save Filters?
Where Can You Filter?
In various modules, you can filter data using the funnel icon
. This ensures that the data relevant to you is immediately visible on your screen. You can also save these filters by clicking on the funnel and then on Save Query As.... This way, you can easily reuse your filters and work more efficiently. You can find the filter function in MKG in the following places:
- In process modules: Use Advanced Search . The funnel is located at the top of the window that appears.
- In action lists: The funnel is immediately available at the top right of your screen.
- In dashboards with data lists: The funnel is immediately available at the top right of your screen.
How to Create a New Filter?
Click on the funnel and then on
Start a New Query. Additional space now appears above the table with a plus on the left side. When you click on this plus, you get these standard options:- General search field and possibly other search fields relevant to the current module: This allows you to quickly perform general searches. This is useful if you want to create a standard or broad search query.
- Select a field…: This opens a pop-up where you can choose a specific field to filter on. This is useful if you are looking for specific data.
- Restore default fields: This restores the search results to the default settings.
In this guide, we take the option 'Select a field…' as an example. In the pop-up, choose a field via the dropdown, for example, Delivery Date. With the checkbox 'Add to most used fields', you can also create a quick selection for this field. This filter can then be selected immediately when you click the plus. When you are done, click OK and refresh the page with F5 to see the updated search results.
How to Edit a Filter?
When you select a filter field, your filter initially appears with the property 'Equal to'
. By clicking on this symbol, you can change the property. If we take the field Delivery Date again as an example, you will see a list of standard choices for various date periods. But it is also possible to specify a specific period yourself using two date fields, for example:
Delivery Date » Greater than or equal to » Date » <for example, the first day of the month>
Delivery Date » Less than » Today
You now have a filter for all delivery dates from the date you entered up to and including yesterday.
How to Filter Directly from a Column?
If you want to filter on a specific column in a table, such as in an action list or dashboard, you can also apply a search filter without starting a query as explained above.
Via the Table Header
Each column has its own header containing the field name. When you hover over it with your mouse, a small funnel becomes visible. By clicking on that funnel, you can apply a search filter directly.
This option offers 2 tabs. Through 'Values', you can select specific values that appear in the column. Through 'Text Filters', you can type in values yourself, and specify the condition (e.g., 'Starts with' or 'Contains').
The applied filter appears in a gray bar at the bottom left of the table. Through this bar, you can clear, toggle, and edit your filter. Remember to clear your filter if you want to view other data.
Via the 'Autofilter Row' Function
If you right-click on a column header, you can enable the option 'Show Autofilter Row'. This adds an extra row below the column headers. In this row, you can search for a specific value, so all rows containing your typed search term are displayed.
