Contributing to the Development of a Company

Maike Veenstra - Kip

“The first female consultant to visit clients on-site. This title was given to me when I started as a consultant at MKG, now already 3 years ago. In the meantime, I have secured my place among all the male colleagues. Fortunately, I am not the only woman working at MKG, and at the companies I visit, women are increasingly becoming my point of contact. The daily interaction with people - both clients and colleagues - is an essential part of my job. I notice this even more now during the COVID-19 times, where physical contact is hardly possible. It is all the more important now to maintain contact in other ways.

It does not matter whether someone is just starting with MKG or has been working with MKG for years, by thinking along and exploring possibilities together, I am able as a consultant to contribute to the development of a company. I am often asked: 'How do other clients do that?' Every company is different, with its own areas of expertise and methods that need to be considered. The answer is therefore not so simple, because companies are not always comparable. Even with user questions, there is not always a straightforward answer, as there are multiple ways to achieve the same goal. This does not always make it easy for the client, and my task is to find the most suitable path. These are sometimes challenges, but they can give me a lot of satisfaction. If the client is satisfied, then as a consultant, I am too. Then expectations are aligned, and communication flows well.”

Advice from Maike:

“Map out your own business process. This is what every client can do in preparation for an implementation or optimization. Particularly the logistical process is important, as many tasks are performed by different people: from order intake to invoicing. At the start of a project, we jointly assess the current and desired situation. This allows us as consultants to better tailor our support and achieve the desired result: a setup in MKG that supports and, where possible, improves business processes.”
