Collaboration is the Essence of Development

Raymond Berning

“Since the inception of MKG on January 1, 2000, I have been employed and thus involved in the development of the ERP package from the very beginning. As a senior software engineer, I am part of the development team, a team composed of enthusiastic and driven software engineers, interface and information builders, and testers. Additionally, I focus on future developments within automation and try to capture the signals that are beneficial for MKG.

Together, the development team maintains the existing software and expands it with new functionality with the aim of delivering the best possible package. The beauty is that we do this collectively, where everyone has their own task and responsibility. The emphasis is on being pragmatic, solution-oriented, and customer-focused when dealing with a problem in the software and developing new functionality.

My team works according to the scrum methodology in so-called sprints. Each sprint lasts 4 weeks; it is determined in advance what will be delivered in the new version. Every day a scrum takes place, and everyone keeps each other informed of the progress. At the end of each sprint, we reflect on how it went: what went well and what can be improved? In this way, we not only improve the development process bit by bit but also ourselves.”
