Creating a Notification Type

Before starting to create a notification, it is necessary to create a notification type. There are many types of notifications that can be created, and the user is free to define them as desired. In this example, the creation of an 8D report is demonstrated.

Note!
This manual is developed for the MKG004 software. If you are using MKG5, the description of the operation may differ from your environment. We aim to provide a product-specific description for this topic in the future.

Creating a notification type begins at the top left with the New button. At the bottom of the screen, the creator of the type can enter a unique abbreviation and description. Under the 'Process' menu, it can be indicated to which processes this type relates. In the example, 'All' is chosen, which means that this notification type can be linked to all processes within MKG.

At the top of the screen, parameters can be linked to the notification. This is done via the Parameter button. This presents the following screen:

The first parameter stands for Customer. The second parameter stands for Customer Complaint Number. For the third parameter, a choice can be made from Error Cause Type. The last parameter stands for Error Cause Content. The parameter codes must be created in advance under 'Notification Parameters Maintenance' under process tables in the Notifications Management module, or by using F9 in the 'Parameter Code' line. This shows the following screen:

As an example, the top parameter is taken. This is the third parameter in the previous screen. This parameter can be adjusted at the bottom of the screen regarding Description, Choice List, Default Value, and Unit Table. This specifies which data will be shown to the creator of the 8D report under this parameter. In this specific case, you will get a choice list with Man, Method, Means, Machine, and Material. The checkbox 'Mandatory' requires the user to provide input for the parameter. If this is not done, other parameters that may follow cannot be completed.

Once all parameters are correctly set, the first screen can be reopened:

At the top of this screen, there is another important button, which is Formula. With this button, you can choose which parameters will be used for the summary of the complaint handling. This looks as follows:

In the example, it is chosen to link certain information to the summary of the notification when creating an 8D report. These are Complaint Number, Cause Type, and Cause Content. Complaint Number can be entered manually. The last two types will display a drop-down menu, which has already been set in the 'Notification Parameters' screen. On the right side of the screen, other Parameters and Functions can be added to this summary. With Testing, the parameters and formulas in the screen can be tested to see if they provide the correct output before they are saved.
