Stock Calculation Anonymous Release vs. Closed Batch Registration

The two inventory models 'Anonymous Release' and 'Closed Batch Registration' can be used alongside each other. It is important to understand how inventory is calculated in both models.

Note!
This manual is developed for the MKG004 software. If you are using MKG5, the description of the operation may differ from your environment. We aim to provide a product-specific description for this topic in the future.

The principle here is that MKG automatically creates batches when a production order is completed or when a purchase order is booked in.

In the above image, a total stock of 30 units is available. When 14 units need to be resolved, this will be done in the Closed Batch Registration model by allocating existing batches and deducting from them. In the Anonymous Release model, negative lines are created without being linked to the batches. The result in both situations is an inventory level of 16 units.

Even without using 'Closed Batch Registration', it is possible to use the reservation functionality. Since only actual positive batches are shown during reservation and no anonymous releases, this gives an incorrect view of the inventory.

It is possible to use both models interchangeably. It is also possible to switch inventory models. Since inventory is mainly tracked at the item level and the calculation method of inventory differs between the two models, it is important to pay attention to the following situations. The starting point is the inventory situation from the image below, combined with the use of items.

When an item is in use, it is likely that inventory mutations have occurred. In combination with the use of 'Anonymous Release', negative release lines are present. This can be checked on the 'Anonymous' tab of the Batch Management module.

When this item is now converted to the 'Closed Batch Registration' inventory model (do this by selecting 'Closed Batch Registration' within Item Management, 'General' tab), the following situation occurs in the inventory system:

As seen in the image, all negative (anonymous) release lines are combined into one batch. The batch quantity is the sum of all anonymous release lines. When looking at the item inventory before and after the action, no difference will be visible.

The newly created situation is not desirable because there is a negative batch present. MKG does this to allow the user to decide how the inventory should now be corrected. An automatic revaluation of existing positive batches cannot always be automatically executed because reservations may be present.

The negatively created batch must be corrected. Use the Inventory Revaluation module for this. Correcting only the negative batch is not sufficient to restore the inventory to the initial situation. Therefore, also correct one or more positive batches.
