Error message 940

"The inventory unit and/or item ratios cannot be changed, because the item is in use." Why do you receive this message and what can you do to resolve it?

Cause

The error message The inventory unit and/or item ratios cannot be changed, because the item is in use. appears when an attempt is made to change the inventory unit of an item, but there exists already inventory with a different unit. Since there are batch transactions with the old unit, the inventory unit of the item can no longer be changed.

 

Solution

  1. Open the Items module in the MKG client.
  2. Create a new item with the correct inventory unit.
  3. Revalue the old inventory and transfer it to the new item.

When implementing the above solution, consider the BOMs, outstanding purchase orders, and production orders where the item is used.
